2009 Concert Calendar

  • Opening Night with jazz vocalist Hilary Kole
     Sunday, August 2 at 6:00 pm & 8:00 pm,

    Opening night features swinging, sultry, and sexy jazz vocalist Hilary Kole and trio. Ms. Kole has appeared as a headliner in New York City at Birdland, the Blue Note, Iridium, and at Carnegie Hall with Michael Feinstein. Her first solo album, Haunter Heart, debuted in April. Hilary Kole co-created and originated the lead female roles in the award-winning, Off-Broadway musicals, Our Sinatra and Singing Astaire.
     
  • Hopkinson Smith, lute and baroque guitar
    Anthony Roth Costanzo, countertenor

    Wednesday, August 5 at 7:30 pm
    Christ Episcopal Church
    Hopkinson Smith performs baroque music from Germany, France, and Spain. Mr. Smith’s recitals and series of more than 20 solo recordings bring life to works that are among the most expressive and intimate in early music. Mr. Smith will also offer a set of John Dowland songs with countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo. Mr. Costanzo, the Grand Finals Winner of the 2009 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, was a 2008 member of Glimmerglass Opera’s Young American Artists Program.

  • Beer and Beethoven
    Sunday, August 9 at 7:30 pm, The Farmers' Museum
    Back by popular demand, the Daedalus Quartet, Grand Prize winner of the Banff International String Quartet Competition, performs Beethoven string quartets op. 18/2 and op. 131, as well as works by Bartok and Ginastera with Linda Chesis, flute, and Roger Wagner, double bass. A tasting of Belgian-style ales from Brewery Ommegang is included.
     
  • Family Music Fest with Daedalus Quartet **
    Monday, August 10 at 11:00 am
    Templeton Hall

    The Daedalus Quartet offers a kid-centered introduction to chamber music. As resident ensemble of the Lincoln Center Institute, Daedalus has performed for thousands of school children. Hands-on crafts and fun begin at 10:30 am.

    Brahms and Beyond
    Wednesday, August 12 at 7:30 pm
    The Farmers' Museum
    An ensemble featuring Anthony McGill, clarinet; Benjamin Hochman, piano; and Inbal Segev perform the Brahms Clarinet Trio and joins with flutist Linda Chesis for works by Phillipe Gaubert, Gabriela Lena Frank, and Libby Larsen. Mr. McGill, principal clarinet for the Metropolitan Orchestra, performed with Yo-Yo Ma and Itzahk Perlman at President Obama's Inauguration.
     
  • Igudesman and Joo: A Little Nightmare Music

  • J. S. Bach, A Musical Offering

    This all-Bach program features selections from The Musical Offering, the Chaconne in d minor and sonatas performed by Linda Chesis, flute; Brian Manker, cello; Bradley Brookshire, harpsichord; and Catherine Cho, violin.
